bringing ellie home

My sister, Graysen Reed, is super talented. She got to San Antonio (from Dallas) just in time to capture these sweet memories in anticipation for our precious Ellie girl's arrival. I love that we have this footage to reflect on and show Ellie one day just how big a deal she was…and is. ;)

Check it.

our purpose

I feel like every blog has a purpose or reason for existence. This blog, in particular, has many purposes. It's all encompassing, if you will. We have a lot going on in our life all of the time it seems, so I wanted to have a way to share "all things Moore" with all of you! In this blog you will find:

Home Projects - I have an eye for design. And Grant is super handy. With our powers combined…well, we do a lot of home projects, so stay tuned for the latest one!

Ellie Updates - We are blessed to have most of our family and friends close by to watch our Ellie Bug grow, but for those who are too far away to see for yourself how INCREDIBLE this kid is (I'm a pretty proud mama) we will post the highlights of her life here.

And our budding side businesses/hobbies…

Grant Moore Films - This is Grant's creative outlet. If you are seeking a videographer for an upcoming event, whether it be a wedding, birthday, engagement, or whatever your heart desires, check out Grant's pricing and packages and see if we are a good fit!

Vintage Stitch - This is my biz. I started it as a hobby and it just turned into something I can earn a little extra something to contribute to the family pot. I love sewing on my old machine, but sewing isn't all I do. A "stitch" brings everything together, and that is what I want my business to do, even if it doesn't necessarily have to do with a needle and thread. I love to tackle Pinterest projects. I love to shop. I love to decorate. I love to make invitations and cards by hand. I love to throw parties. I love anything handmade. Give me an idea, a project, a challenge, and let me put it all together for you!

baby threads

I started off stitching and selling custom burp cloths. They are a great gift to take to baby showers! I received custom burp cloths for one of my baby showers and there is just something so special about a handmade gift!

birthday: addie drew

Our birthday present to our favorite niece was a short film capturing the priceless moments of her second birthday. We hope to do a video like this for every one of our kids! It would definitely take "home video" watching to a new level!

gender reveal: grayson cameron

Grant's brother and his wife announced their good news last summer that they would be adding "one moore" to their family! We were pumped to attend their gender reveal party back in October (our first one, actually)! It was such a sweet moment to share with family and even sweeter to capture everyone's expression and excitement on film! Cammie appointed a trusted coordinator to arrange everything for the reveal (my mom, hehe) and decided to go with silly string as a fun way to find out boy or girl!

If you are one of those couples that HAS TO KNOW before the actual due date, this is an awesome way to share the your exciting news!

our first home

Our first home was actually an apartment that was technically a dorm room that happened to be in the men's residence halls at DBU. Let me explain.

Grant and I both attended Dallas Baptist University. At the beginning of Grant's junior year of school, he was offered a full time position as the Resident Director of the men's residence halls on campus. With this amazing offer came free room and board, free cafeteria food (yum), free school (oh yeah), and free school for his spouse…so we got married. That wasn't the ONLY reason though…haha…just a really really big perk. ;)

Grant started this AMAZING job in December 2006 and we were married June 2007. After our honeymoon, we came back to home sweet home…our dorm room/apartment.  Our humble abode was a grand 700 square feet. Two bedrooms, one bathroom, living and kitchen. It was cozy for sure.

SO many of my girlfriends would shriek at the thought of living in the men's dorms. I was literally the only girl who had a "dot" on the back of my ID that allowed me to cross beyond the forbidden double doors that said, "NO WOMEN BEYOND THIS POINT". I loved freaking the new kids out. It was awesome. I felt like such a rebel.

Grant and I served in the dorms for three glorious years and I can honestly say they were my favorite years of our marriage so far. I love having all the boys over. Seriously. We would watch our latest shows with them, eat with them, play board games with them, movies, they would help me choreograph routines for my cheer team I was coaching at the time, I'd cut their hair for free (well actually they had to do my dishes…and you can bet I purposefully piled those dirties sky high…life without a dishwasher is the pits)…it was the life.

I will never forget the countless times I would have regular conversation through the walls with our neighbors. They were that thin. Scary.

I will also never forget the time I had to facilitate "White Glove Check" in Grant's stead because he was sick with the flu. You have never seen 175 college boys clean so well and so fast. It was like watching a school of roaches scatter. I was pretty harsh, but they loved me for it.

First memory…coming home from our honeymoon, dropping Grant off at the doorstep of his office (terrible layovers getting back to Dallas) and getting help from three sweet non-English speaking Asian students to move all of our wedding gifts and luggage into our apartment. I will never forget their sweet hearts.

Funny memory…I burnt a pot of rice over the stove and set the fire alarm off in the entire building. All 175 boys had to evacuate the building and stand in the freezing cold. I acted as though it was just a drill…even though the evidence was in the trash can on the porch…oops.

Worst memory…one of the boys walked into our apartment and the door leading to the back half of the apartment was left OPEN by my awesome husband and this poor friend of ours saw me in my underwear. I cried. And I don't think I ever talked to that boy again.

I don't have many pictures of this sweet place, but here are a few shots from Christmas time.

And here is the gang. This was one of the groups of guys…can't find the pictures of the others…will keep searching. It was a tacky Christmas sweater party, I promise.

It was so sad to say goodbye to our life in Dallas, but the Lord had other plans for this tribe. :)
